HUGS & SALSA

Hello! My name is Lorna B.

Hugs & Salsa is a global salsa dance journey inspired from my travels as a community health promoter in Latin America and my dance background and upbringing in Puerto Rico.

ABOUT

Workshops, Private Lessons & Event Entertainment

The workshop experience integrates principles from community health and dance facilitation, with elements of reflective discussion, movement drills, and peer solidarity. Specializations include ladies styling, performance presence, salsa pole, Caribbean isolation movements, and consulting on interpersonal communication/management for your studio team.

Intimate salsa lessons for couples with a focus on partner connection, as well as event entertainment (collegiate late night programming, weddings, quinceañeros, liason to nightclubs & bars), are also services of the project.

Lorna is a true gem when it comes to teaching ladies' styling for salsa. Her enthusiasm, passion, and ability to go up and beyond what you would expect a teacher to do for you made the class engaging and fun. Whether you are an experienced dancer or not, you will no doubt find a safe place to express yourself within Lorna's teaching. I felt empowered and supported all throughout the course with her!

BIO

As a conscientious and dynamic dancer, I care to encourage peer connections, intersectionality, body ownership, and holistic cross-training for my students, to support their unique style and empowered expression.

Lorna Bouret trained in Puerto Rico at Escuela Especializada en Ballet Julián E. Blanco and Academia de Bailes Iveth Mejías. She holds an Anthropology degree from the University of Florida, and has mentored for organizations such as Peace Corps, Iniciativa Comunitaria, Gainesville Girls Rock Camp, and other experiential-learning institutions. When not traveling, Lorna calls salsa/pole/healing art studios in Gainesville, Florida home.

COLLABORATE

Who Can Collaborate?

Curious on how YOU can make a difference in this project?

Whether you are a Latin dance startup studio, an established academy, or a congress promoter. A pole dance or yoga studio? Yes please! I am also interested in experiencing folkloric and cultural dance in your area. Even a tremendous contribution could be in the form of housing (hosting me and my partner Charles, who is a jiu-jitsu and breakdance instructor, see charlesharriott.com).

Please do send me a message!
